Here to Make Friends

Posted on: September 12, 2008

Hi!  I’ve got some F*U*N things to share today starting with this WAY cute shirt –

but to truly appreciate it you have to click here:  Wire and Twine and watch the video clip that was used for inspiration! Funny (and sad – eye-rolling sad) at the same time…

More Nie Nie Information:

A few posts back I shared the Nielson’s story.  One of Nie Nie’s friends, Kelly McCaleb has a wonderful, wonderful blog of her own and shared a very special post about how she and Stephanie (Nie Nie) became friends and how her life was deeply touched and changed by that friendship. The heartfelt post is here.  You’ll need kleenex…

Democrats May Want to Skip Ahead…

Here’s a really funny e-mail that’s been circulating the web:

Top ten reasons I’m Voting Democrat…

  • 10. I’m voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
  • 9. I’m voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
  • 8. I’m voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people.
  • 7. I’m voting Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.
  • 6. I’m voting Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
  • 5. I’m voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.
  • 4. I’m voting Democrat because I believe three or four liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some people who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.
  • 3. I’m voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don’t have to hide from us over there, when they come over here I don’t want to have any guns in the house to fight them off with.
  • 2. I’m voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my horse.
  • 1. I’m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are insane, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

Makes ya wonder why anyone would EVER vote Republican, now doesn’t it?  Not!

THE baby talk (help!) –

Well, it’s THAT time at our house.  Time to have the Where Babies Come From”-talk with my daughter!  Any suggestions are most welcome.  I’ve done it once before with my son (because I was quite leary of what his father’s version would have been…) and we used a book. I had him read it first, then we looked through it together and I ‘tried’ to get him to ask me some questions… A*W*K*W*A*R*D

It was ME that ended up asking questions to see if he knew/understood everything (like a quiz!!) because he had no questions of his own…  Sigh.

I think A’s talk will be easier in that she’ll ask me anything – hmmmm… maybe that won’t be easier (Yes, Honey. I DID wait until my wedding night. – I’m practicing, so it sounds natural).

Here’s the book I have (it’s in comic book form and does a good job of getting the facts out in a fun, clear, casual way): It’s So Amazing

Wish me luck (again, suggestions are most welcome)!
Now go forth and improve someone else’s day ~

Sigh. Unfortunately, I had to have THE TALK with my eldest when she was only 6! And that’s because she had a friend over who, apparently, was showing her what mommies and daddies do and she was using Barbie and Ken to illustrate.

I just about DIED. I sent the girl home and had to have a different kind of talk with her parents – now THAT was awkward.

Luckily, my Zoe just looked at me like “huh?” and then ran off to watch TV.

Love the “why I’m voting Democrat”… and good luck with “the talk”! I’m a couple of years away from that (I hope!!)

Great post, love the t-shirt!

Great post. I love the “voting democrat” thing. I think I’ll send it to my bleeding heart liberal senior citizen parents!

Love the Democrate list!! Oh it just makes you wonder why half the country votes for them!!!!!!

I had that talk too with my son and his reaction when I finished was, “Mom, I already know that stuff!” WHAT!!!!! Oh well. I tried.

My almost six year old is asking lots of questions about where babies come from. We have chickens and we keep trying explain why their eggs won’t hatch chicks (we don’t have a rooster).

haha good luck on the “TALK”! That book looked pretty helpful! My LO is only 1 so I have a good 5 years to go…. hopefully! LOL!

LOVE that T Shirt!!

Hey Sis!!
Good luck with the Amy chat!! Just don’t lie about anything!! lol Be honest, you don’t want her to feel that she has to hide things from you when she’s older because you made yourself sound ultra pure!! 😉 Let me know how it goes. Unfortunately I have no suggestions because I have not gotten there yet…..but I remember Mom giving me a book when I was very young and as I got older and started asking questions, she started to explain the book to me little by little.

They say that muscle is heavier "by volume" than fat is, which means 5 lbs. of muscle takes up less space than 5 lbs. of fat within a body. I'm a believer. This totally explains how your clothes begin to fit better even though the numbers on the scale aren' t moving very fast.

This is GROSS. I know. But I'd rather see the fat HERE than on my body...

Each time we “resist” an urge to fall off plan or not exercise we strengthen our “resistance muscle” and each time we “give in” to temptation we strengthen our “give in muscle” making it easier to either "resist" or "give in" next time.
